Gueguerat is a small village located at the far southwest of Western Sahara, inching 11 km away from the border with Mauritania. Currently, it is under the control of Morocco, “which [they] regard as vital to trade with sub-Saharan Africa.” (Middle East Monitor).

About our project
To provide humanitarian aid for the Western Sahara refugees, the incredible teams in UWC Maastricht and Dilijan have envisioned a great initiative to improve their living conditions.
2017
UWCM '20 alumni Leila Belkacem founded the Under the Sun project to draw funds for the cause through public support
2019
Thanks to the UWC Maastricht team, the project successfully raised more than 5000 euros.
2020
UWCD' 21 generation joins the project.

Non-Profit
We wish to unite the people’s power under a social cause to bring about greater goods for the Western Saharan refugees living in Tindouf. All donations will be directed toward the camp.
