In Maastricht (2018-20)

Books sale

We collected books from teachers, students, parents and many more in the Maastricht community. There were multiple languages available. The members of the community could pay any amount that they desire to. We also conducted a stationary sale by gathering past items left by the DP2s and sold it to the new firsties coming into Maastricht. The book sales were held once a month in Maastricht.

Floorball

For the event, we invited people from different clubs, conferences, buildings, and tutor groups, etc., to compete with one another in a floorball game. As they pay for their game, they could likewise buy the snacks that we have provided for them on the side of the court.

In Dilijan (2019-20)

Western Sahara Cultural Day

Our team organized a wonderful Western Sahara Cultural Day where we aimed to show the different elements that make up the rich Western Sahara Culture, and also fundraise for this project. We had henna, dress up/ photoshoot, music & dancing, and snacks at the event, alongside the company of the amazing students and staff members of UWC Dilijan.

Leila, the founder of this project, also shared the culture of vibrant traditional clothes in the Western Sahara. Leila and some of our team members went around showing people how to wear these clothes correctly, as putting them on involves a process that can be a little complicated. In the Western Sahara region, women wear Malhafah and the men wear Dara’ah. We would like to thank everyone who participated in the event, volunteered to paint the henna, and those interested to stop by to experience the touch of Sahrawi culture.
